FFAC Recap - Week 13: Regular Season Playoffs

PLAYOFFS BABY!!!!

They're here!

WE OUT HEREEEEEEE!

Regular season is over and I know I'm super late on this, but what better way to start Sunday games and fantasy playoffs than by reading this IN THE MOMENT???

And for you non-playoff folks, you better pay attention too because relegation is at stake here (there, Jay, happy?). That means you, Nick, KO, Shiv, MJ.

Now let's begin this weeks recaps, which like our political climate (and literal climate), has been as consistent as the word inconstant.

Jamie and Ryan held on, as Shelby fell just short and Stefan, well, almost isn't quite enough. At least you're safe from relegation.

Oh, and here's the podcast with ALL playoff members in attendance (don't ask me how I managed to pull this off during work hours):

PLAYOFFS:

There are 2 matches this week with Fireball (#1) and Zach (#2) on Bye, and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention a little something semi-important that happened on Thursday.

#3 Danny v #6 Jamie - BOY OH BOY. My playoff hopes would have certainly been DONE, as Derrick Henry put up a top 10 all time fantasy performance (I checked). 4 touchdowns. 238 yards. 47.8 fantasy points. On Jamie's bench. 1 player, with Gurley, Cam, AR12 and co yet to play a snap. That surely would have sealed the deal for Jamie, but alas, it did not, and here we are. Now, I can't harp on Jamie too much for this, because literally no one saw this coming. So, now we enter games in just a few minutes with yours truly hoping to go for a 2nd FFAC title as Jamie is a 10 point underdog at this moment. Don't sleep on Jamie yet, tho.

#4 Jay v #5 Ryan - Jay was for the 2nd half of this season our #1 offense in fantasy. Fireball took over last week but Jay is still 2nd. Ryan, not far behind, is 4th, but these 2 teams have been notoriously streaky over the course of the season, as reflected by their records (7-6, both). Both have their #1 RBs out to injury this week, and while Jay is a little more top heavy at WR, Ryan appears to have the more well rounded team, well, at least in relation to these 2. It's a live projection of +10 in favor of Ryan.

CONSOLATION (AKA DON'T GET RELEGATED):

Stefan (#7) and Shelby (#8) are safe from relegation (see ya'll next season) and are both on Bye.

#10 Nick v #11 KO - This one hurts. Both are FFAC vets, and KO has fallen far from grace, as last season's Champion is now a loss way from relegation. Normally this would be enough to warrant our Disappointing Team of the Year award, but Nick at one point looked to be the #1 seed, 5 weeks in. KO (along with Jay) are the longest standing members of FFAC, predating myself, Stefan, and Nick by 1 year, and Ryan, Shiv, and Shelby by 2. It would be a bummer to lose KO, but no favoritism here, it would also be a bummer to lose Nick, our silent member (and runner up 2 seasons ago). However, after the TNF game, KO looks to make up some ground on that pre-games -20 line and now sits as a 10 point underdog. Best of luck, you two.

#9 Shiv v #12 MJ - Mr. Draft 3 Kickers and 2 Defenses actually ended up making it interesting in the 2nd half of the season, but it was for naught as here he is, at risk of relegation. Now, this will sound mean, but based on that draft night alone, if anyone deserves to be relegated, it's Shiv. However, my failed ROY recipient in MJ has just had a terrible season. Draft picks couldn't go right, waivers moves were inconsequential, and MJ just couldn't recover from what seemed like a myriad of injuries to key players at nearly every turn of the first month and a half. Will it be last years 3rd place team in Shiv, or will MJ be 1 and done in the top FFAC league?

My official, non-solicited winners this week are:

Danny
Ryan

And being relegated is...

Nick
Shiv

I think both KO and MJ pull the upset, sorry boys. I MADE IT JUST IN TIME.
